| BALTIMORE, MD (Jan. 21, 2002) - Under Armour, the company that founded the performance apparel industry in 1995, today announced it has expanded its presence in the Olympic ranks by serving as the official supplier of performance apparel to the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team. Under Armour is the originator of tight-fitting, moisture-wicking garments that help maintain athletes' core temperatures by keeping them dry and light while they compete or train. Under the terms of the deal reached with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association - the United States' Olympic governing body for skiing and snowboarding - Under Armour will supply the entire freestyle ski squad with its specially designed microfiber gear through the Winter Olympics. The deal significantly increases the company's role in high-profile Olympic athletic competition. Under Armour already is the official performance apparel supplier to USA Baseball, which took home the gold medal in the 2000 Olympics from Sydney, Australia. "This agreement not only allows us to partner with some of the hardest-working athletes in all of sports, it will generate enormous brand awareness as a worldwide audience of millions watches the Winter Games," said Kevin Plank, Under Armour's founder and president. "Given our Olympic track record and the tremendous ability of this team, we could be looking at another gold medal season." Under Armour also reached agreement with one of the team's best-known athletes, Jeremy Bloom, to appear in the company's print advertising campaign. Combined, the two deals will maximize Under Armour's exposure during the Olympics' return to the United States. "It's unreal how much better you ski when you're not cold, wet and weighed down by your clothes," Bloom said. "Under Armour is unbelievable." Under Armour, founded in 1995 by collegiate and professional athletes, has engineered six lines of performance apparel to cover every climate, season and playing condition. The Under Armour Fabric(tm) is designed to pull perspiration from the body to the outside of the garment, keeping athletes cool and dry in summer, maintaining their core temperature in winter and accommodating the less extreme conditions of spring and fall.
